Lucky to be You

Traveling in Thailand, you see Buddhist monks often.  It is uniquely beautiful and common for travelers to ask to take their photograph.  One day while exploring temple ruins and gardens, Buddhist monks approached, asking in their limited English, if they could take my photograph!  I thought,,, they are offering to "pose" for a picture.  Moments of confusion, and then the camera gesture, and again the question.  This seemed unbelievable, ridiculous and fun..
"Yes! of course".
The photographs were taken, and thankfully a friend also captured the opportunity,
that's me in the middle ;)
I laughed over this odd reversal.
The monk asked, "Where are you from?"
Happily, I respond, "California."
The monk loved this and joyfully sang out, "Lucky to be You, Ca~ li~ for~ nia~!"
Smiling faces and waving hands, we continued on our way.
The monks carried out their call every few minutes,
"Lucky to be You, Ca~ li~ for~ nia~!",  until they grew small and the melody was quiet.
Throughout the humid day, among topiary animals and from across lotus ponds,
a shout and song rings out - it is -
(have you ever seen a Buddhist monk yelling!?*)
"Lucky to be YOU!"
and that is the truth..
it is very Lucky to be Y♡U.
